This upscale Alamo Heights restaurant showcases a gracious gallery of entrées, from traditional Tex-Mex to interior and coastal Mexican cuisine.  The hacienda-inspired dining rooms and patio appropriately frame picture perfect plates of Tampico style surf-and-turf interpretation of carne asada, grilled chicken with the signature house chipotle-cream sauce, and tangy tomatillo-sauced enchiladas verdes, to name just a few.  Special events, like monthly tequila tastings, and the cushy bar keep the place bustling.

It may be named for a white bird, but its “delicious” deep-green enchiladas (“the best in town”) and pale-green margaritas are what inspire habitués to home in “weekly” on this “upscale” Alamo Heights Mexican; they also like the “refined” setting – complete with “lovely” patio “perfect for Sunday afternoons” – and the “warm, welcoming” atmosphere that’s “nice for kids”...

“scores high marks for service”

"This long-standing San Antonio favorite recently underwent a location -- and personality -- change. The wide-ranging menu that inspired local devotion is essentially the same, but the venue is now more upscale Mexico City than low-key San Antonio. Favorites include the enchiladas verdes in a tangy green tomatillo sauce, the Veracruz-style red snapper, and the vegetable chiles rellenos, a light, delicious version of the popular dish. ...has a nice selection of soups, including a comforting cream of chile poblano with corn, and caldo tlapeño, a spicy version of the classic tortilla soup. Sit out on the patio on a winter evening... to enjoy a bowl."

"On nice days, the patio--complete with flourishing vegetation and whispering palms--is ideal."

-- Citysearch.com

Taking its menu a step beyond the expected fare, Paloma Blanca features enticing chicken and beef dishes, delicious soups and more in addition to the usual enchiladas, tostadas and quesadillas. A full bar offers a killer margarita, so beware! Paloma Blanca draws lots of locals and plenty of kids, too. This is an all-around excellent choice for Mexican cuisine.

"The new digs...are multi-leveled, expansive, and cool... There are extensive outdoor dining areas, and private dining spaces separated by impressive doors. And then there's the bar: clubby, cushy, and reeking of leather and expectations."

"TOP 10 BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANTS - TOP 10 BEST LUNCH RESTAURANTS"

Yes, the restaurant's name may make you hum "Just like the white winged dove..." but don't let that distract you from trying the place's upscale Mexican fare. Stevie Nicks would surely approve of zucchini-stuffed peppers with queso monterrey or shrimp and mushroom enchiladas in white wine sauce. An extensive gluten-free menu is also available. Lush flowers, brick fountains, and vine-covered trellises beautify the exterior. Don't miss the monthly tequila tastings - appetizers are on the house."
